Transitioning from Physical to Virtual Automotive Testing Using Virtual Microcontrollers

Tech Talk

Available Until April 24, 2020

New, more powerful microcontrollers are becoming available to serve the increasing performance, application-specific needs, and software content demand of automotive domain controllers in powertrain and ADAS. Developers of such systems need to start development earlier, increase testing throughput, and accelerate testing cycles.

Automotive companies are looking to achieve these goals by moving from a physical to virtual development environment and deliver safer product faster. Virtual microcontrollers (virtual prototypes) are the foundation to establish a virtual development environment.

This Tech Talk presents the use cases and benefits of virtual environments for automotive applications, the components required to establish such an environment, and the current availability of virtual models supporting leading microcontrollers from Infineon, NXP, Renesas, and STMicroelectronics.

Presenter:

Marc Serughetti, Senior Director, Product Marketing and Business Development, Synopsys

Marc Serughetti is Senior Director of Product Marketing and Business Development for Synopsys automotive verification solutions ranging from SoC functional safety verification and architecture design to automotive digital twin with virtual ECU, E/E system, and wiring harness design. He engages automotive OEMs, Tier1s, semiconductors, and software companies worldwide to identify new solutions, business, and ecosystem opportunities. Marc joined Synopsys in 2010 and has more than 20 years’ experience in systems, embedded software, and EDA technologies.
