Justin Barad, MD, Co-founder and CEO, Osso VR 

Dr. Justin Barad, Osso VR’s co-founder and CEO, is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon with a bioengineering degree from UC Berkeley and an MD from UCLA, where he graduated first in his class. He completed his residency at UCLA and his fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital. During his residency, Justin identified a pressing medical challenge: how we are training our surgeons. With a strong interest in gaming and first-hand understanding of the challenges facing residents and doctors, he co-founded Osso VR with a mission to improve patient safety and democratize access to modern surgical techniques. Justin also practices at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children.

Roger Smith, Chief Technology Officer, AdventHealth Nicholson Center 

Roger Smith, Ph.D., is the Chief Technology Officer for the AdventHealth Nicholson Center, where he is responsible for establishing the technology strategy and initiating research projects to improve hospital operations. He previously served as the CTO for U.S. Army simulation, training, and instrumentation as well as the Vice President and CTO for training systems at Titan Corp. Roger holds a Ph.D. in computer science, a doctorate and MBA in management, and an M.S. in statistics. He has published three professional textbooks, 12 book chapters, and over 100 journal and conference papers. His most recent book is “A CTO Thinks About Innovation.”

Marjorie Villien, Technology & Market Analyst, Medical Imaging & Biophotonics, Yole Développement 

Marjorie Villien, Ph.D., is a member of the Life Sciences & Healthcare division at Yole Développement. She is a daily contributor to the development of medical technologies activities with a dedicated collection of market and technology reports as well as custom consulting projects. After spending two years at Harvard, Marjorie served as a research scientist at INSERM in the field of medical imaging for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and cancers.
