Rethink Your EM Equity Allocation: Find Fortune in the Forgotten

Wed, Apr 10, 2019 10:04 AM EDT{LOCAL_TZ}

Today’s EM equity universe represents a broad and growing pool of interesting, attractive companies that are trading at reasonable valuations relative to historical averages. Yet, most investors have focused their allocation on a relatively narrow subset of those stocks—particularly concentrating exposure in a select group of consumer, technology, and internet businesses. Beyond those few names are a number of “forgotten” companies that are improving their returns and earnings in ways that most investors have failed to realize.

During this interactive discussion, our panel of T. Rowe Price experts will explore the appeal of EM equities, and examine how allocators should be thinking about constructing a dynamic, diversified EM portfolio. The discussion will reveal opportunities in EM regions, including the allure of old-economy stocks in China, and areas that are currently unloved or beyond the bounds of a traditionally narrow EM focus, like South Africa and various domestic cyclical sectors.
