Power electronics in an electric vehicle manage the transfer of electrical energy from the battery to various vehicle components such as low-voltage subsystems. The high voltage and current ratings at which the power electronics need to operate, together with fast switching speeds, pose significant design challenges including thermal management, EMC compliance, circuit protection, and reliability.

This 30-minute Webinar provides solutions to these challenges and shows how they can be used in the design of a three-phase power inverter module. In particular, it looks into thermal management, EMC compliance, and parasitic extraction aspects.

The Webinar also examines how technologies such as 1D circuit solvers, 1D system solvers, stress/fatigue/CFD/electromagnetic 3D solvers, co-simulation between 1D and 3D solvers, and a dedicated 1D electric powertrain library can be seamlessly connected to provide a single source of truth shared across the technologies.

Fabien Letailleur leads the team responsible for delivering technical solutions and sales/marketing assets to targeted markets in the transportation andmobility industry, with an increased focus on electric vehicles. Fabien joined Dassault Systèmes in 2007 with a master’s degree in mechanical engineeringfrom the University of Technology of Troyes in France. His responsibilities within SIMULIA have included providing technical support for SLM in the customer services team and producing sales tools and demonstrations in the marketing/communications group. He has also worked on the messaging of Dassault Systèmes’ next-generation solutions for SIMULIA in the technical marketing and market strategy groups. In addition, he has worked to connect the SIMULIA value proposition with the Dassault Systèmes industry strategy since 2012. 

Krishna Gundu, Senior Industry Solutions Manager, Dassault Systèmes   
Krishna Gundu received his Ph.D. in optical science and a master’s in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona, specializing in the field ofcomputational electromagnetics. After completing a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, he joined SIMULIA in 2010 to expand its simulation solutions to address electromagnetics. He worked closely with SIMULIA R&D and partners until the eventual acquisition of CST, an electromagnetic simulation vendor. He is currently working as Senior Industry Solutions Manager, focusing on aligning Dassault Systèmes’ solutions in the area of power electronics to the needs of the electric vehicle industry.
