Ricardo da Silva is the VP – Strategic Operations at the New York Power Authority (NYPA).  Mr. da Silva oversees the Infrastructure Modernization Strategic Initiatives at NYPA consisting of Smart Generation & Transmission and Asset Management aimed at making the power system more flexible and resilient while improving asset utilization.  Strategic Operations is defining and embedding innovative technologies and processes into every day operations by focusing on identifying opportunities that drive: increased reliability and resiliency, enhanced situational awareness, and optimization of generation and transmission assets.
Mr. da Silva has spent the last fifteen years at NYPA developing and managing major programs relating to generation as well as transmission assets.  Prior to his current role, Mr. da Silva served as Project Manager where he managed life extension & modernization programs at hydro and transmission facilities, including a $726 million transmission program across NY State and the interconnection of renewable generation into NYPA’s system.
Mr. da Silva holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Computer Engineering from Manhattan College in addition to being a Project Management Professional (PMP).
