Kevin Cahill is the Application Engineering Manager for IDI Composites International. He is a customer-driven engineering professional with more than 20 years of polymer composites experience in all aspects of product concept, design, validation, manufacturing, and support. He has focused expertise in the correlation of composite material characterization, simulation, and accelerated life testing to accurately predict product life in high-performance automotive, defense, and specialty applications. 

David F. Erb Jr., Senior R&D Program Manager, Advanced Structures and Composites Center, University of Maine

David F. Erb Jr. is the Senior R&D Program Manager at the University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center, where he is responsible for technical and strategic program development including new products and markets for advanced materials. He has worked in the development of advanced materials for over 25 years, creating products for aviation, protective apparel, and industrial applications. His current role includes leading the Consortium for Manufacturing Innovations in Structural Thermoplastics as well as the development of a structural thermoplastics laboratory. He is also leading an effort with the U.S. Army (NSRDEC) in the development of organic polymer photovoltaic textiles and working in cooperation with the Maine Technology Institute to develop a SMART materials laboratory. David has an MBA, as well as degrees in industrial technology and metallurgy, and holds more than 20 U.S. and international patents in high-performance materials. 

Volker Plehn, Director of Business Development at Toray Automotive

Volker Plehn is the Director of Business Development at Toray Automotive. He is a graduate from RWTH Aachen with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and from University of Michigan with an Executive MBA. Volker has been working in engineering polymers for more than 25 years. He has a strong background in sales and marketing, complemented by his experience in operations, business, and finance. After almost 25 years with DuPont prior to joining Toray, he worked as the Global Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Interface Performance Materials.
