About the Speakers

Cindy Shumate has managed travel and meetings programs for some of the most prestigious companies and organizations in the U.S., including Estee Lauder and Princeton University. She joined Regeneron in 2016 as senior manager of travel and meetings where business travel safety and security has become a cross-functional effort as the organization digs deeper into data requirements and protocol.


Stephen Barth, author of Hospitality Law and coauthor of Restaurant Law Basics, is an attorney and the founder of HospitalityLawyer.com, the annual Hospitality Law Conference series and the Global Congress on Travel Risk Management. As a professor at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, University of Houston, he teaches courses in hospitality law and leadership. He is a member of the National Speaker’s Association and a founder of the Global Alliance of Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Attorneys..


Dan Gallagher of AIG manages a 24/7 team that tracks major global incidents and assesses the impact they may have to AIG employees, buildings and overall assets worldwide. He works with travel management to ensure business traveler safety but also AIG’s broader distributed workforce.



Elizabeth West is the Editor-in-Chief of Business Travel News and Travel Procurement magazines. She has researched and reported on the business travel and meetings industries for 15 years. She has developed online education forums for business travel and meetings managers, and frequently moderates education sessions at industry conferences. Prior to her work with BTN, Elizabeth was the Director of Content Solutions for ProMedia.travel, a startup business travel media company that merged with BTN in 2011. She also served as the Editor-in-Chief of MeetingNews magazine and has produced editorial, research and educational content in partnership with numerous business travel industry suppliers and associations.
