Webcast Description:

Mobile devices are ubiquitous in enterprise networks, and as such, wireless connectivity is an essential, fundamental need in these environments. Planning and deploying the technology that enables this connectivity is a multi-faced, multi-dimensional undertaking. This webcast seminar, produced by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, examines technologies as well as design and implementation strategies that enable mobile connectivity in enterprise networks.

Presentation 1: How a Structured Cabling System Can Support Enterprise Wireless Connectivity
The structured cabling system that is familiar to enterprise-network administrators can be used as the supporting infrastructure for wireless networks including distributed antenna systems (DAS) and WiFi. This presentation details how and why that is possible, providing information about the cabling media types (twisted-pair, singlemode, multimode) as well as the architecture that can be used as a “backhaul” for DAS and WiFi connectivity in enterprise spaces.

Presentation 2: Practicalities of Deploying Wireless LANs in Healthcare Facilities
Healthcare facilities, particularly including hospitals, widely deploy wireless LANs for reasons of both convenience and necessity—convenience for visitors to the facility and necessity for those working within it. This presentation explains why wireless LANs are prevalent in healthcare environments, including discussion of the needs these networks fulfill. The presentation also takes a practical, hands-on look at the deployment of wireless LANs, as well as placement, management and protection of wireless access points in healthcare facilities.
