The middle market is one of the fastest-growing business segments in the U.S. economy. Along with revenue growth, many companies have experienced a surge of business travel volume, not to mention the challenges that come with such changes, according to a recent survey conducted by The BTN Group and American Express Global Business Travel. Nearly two-thirds of survey respondents cited increased travel volume in 2016 from 2015 and expect even more volume growth next year.

About the Panelists

Bonnie Christensen began her career at Target, where she worked for 27 years in merchandising, credit operations and the last 12 as Group Travel Manager. Bitten by the travel industry bug, she continued her career in travel at Donaldson Company Inc., a global manufacturing company headquartered in Bloomington, Minn. At Donaldson, she is responsible for both global travel operations and the travel security program as Global Travel and Security Manager.

Sharon Fogarty is the Global Category Manager for Haemonetics Corporation, a global provider of blood and plasma supplies and services. She is responsible for leading the corporate-wide travel program including supplier management, sourcing and negotiations initiatives, analyzing global spend, benchmarking category trends, advancing strategic cost savings initiatives and implementing progressive global travel programs while monitoring compliance to travel policies. Fogarty has more than 25 years of experience in the travel industry, having worked on both the buyer and supplier side. She has more than 15 years of experience in travel management working for mid-size and large companies.

Colin Temple is responsible for developing the strategy and driving business growth for the middle market segment within the United States and all segments in Canada as Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Middle Market and Canada for American Express Global Business Travel. Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager for American Express GBT Canada. Temple also spent 22 years at American Express, where he led sales and account development teams across Canada as Head of Merchant Services for American Express Bank of Canada. He also held a number of senior leadership roles in Global Merchant Services in the U.S., where he was responsible for strategic merchant relationships, new industry and regional business development, based in New York and Los Angeles. Prior to working in the U.S., he spent 10 years with American Express in London in sales, marketing and business development.
