These include simulating thermal contact and phase change during the laminating of structures, and the dynamic analysis of subsea cables. COMSOL can be used to simulate structures under loads and perform multiphysics analysis when thermal or fluid loads are present.

John Dunec received his PhD from Stanford University in 1983. John has over 25 years of experience in product analysis and development. He started his career at IBM, was successful at an early multiphysics startup, and then ran a product development consulting firm. As a consultant, he was one of COMSOL’s first US customers and is now VP of Sales, North West US and Manager of the Palo Alto office. He has been teaching COMSOL courses throughout the US since 2003.

Mark Yeoman, PhD, is founder of Continuum Blue, a specialist analysis company which provides product development, materials testing and failure analysis services using multiphysics modeling techniques. With over 15 years of experience in the field of computational modeling and applied mathematics, he has worked in several sectors, including aerospace, biomedical, sustainable energy, and oil & gas. His most recent research has focused on the design, development and optimization of bioreactors and orthopaedic implants using COMSOL.
