In this webcast, Deputy Chief Jeffrey
Pindelski will answer some tough questions about what we should be
paying closer attention to with our self-contained breathing
apparatus (SCBA) and how training with them will help us perform
essential tasks on today's fireground. He will provide webcast
attendees with a blueprint to analyze and update their department's
training programs to keep safe and survive fireground challenges.
Topics include updates to NFPA 1981 (the standard for SCBA), fire
and smoke behavior and making tactical decisions while operating in

Pindelski is a 24-year plus student of the
fire service, is the deputy chief of operations with the Downers
Grove, IL, Fire Department. He is a Firehouse.com contributing
editor and is the co-author of the text: R.I.C.O.- Rapid
Intervention Company Operations, and is a revising author
of the third edition of the Firefighter’s Handbook.
Pindelski has earned a masters degree from Lewis University and
was a recipient of the State of Illinois Firefighting Medal of
Valor in 1998.
