M. Darren Root, CPA.CITP
Darren is the Executive Editor of CPA Practice Advisor, and remains in public practice as the principal of Root & Associates, LLC, in Bloomington, Indiana, and president of his consulting practice, RootWorks. He formerly served on the Board of the AICPA's CITP Credentials Committee and is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana CPA Society. He speaks at dozens of professional organizations each year and frequently serves as a guest lecturer at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
John Barnes, Product Line Manager – Workflow Solutions for CCH Tax & Accounting. John’s responsibilities with CCH include the day-to-day business management and development of strategic roadmaps for the following CCH and ProSystem fx solutions: Document, Portal, Site Builder and KnowledgeConnect.
John brings 20+ years of experience in accounting and financial systems, software development, and management to CCH. Prior to joining CCH, John managed the Tax Planning, Sales & Use Tax and Fixed Assets Management software solutions at Bloomberg BNA working with accounting firms and corporate clients of all sizes.
Damon Russel, Technical Product Manager, joined CCH in 2006. Damon is responsible for the ongoing roadmap definition, development and performance of ProSystem fx Document and Portal. Daily activities include gathering enhancement suggestions and requirements from prospects, evaluators and existing customers; identifying and documenting market problems; developing product roadmaps, and working closely with the design, development and quality assurance teams to schedule and release features and enhancements that solve identified market problems.
Prior to joining the Product Management team, Damon was a senior business analyst/designer for ProSystem fx Document and Portal. Damon has also worked on the ProSystem fx Practice Advantage team as a quality assurance analyst and tester. Before joining CCH, Damon worked in retail management, IT/Helpdesk, back office management, and hospitality management.
