Critical aspects of deck design and construction
This one-hour webinar will cover many aspects of residential deck design and construction. Decks exist in sometimes brutal weather conditions … a good reason to address structural code requirements of the International Residential Code for residential wood deck construction. Attendees will learn about the code, design requirements and best practices. Other topics will include code-specific loads; choosing the correct connection for each section of a deck; fastener and connector selection; load capacity and corrosion issues; deck safety and statistics; deck design loads; deck connections and details; and typical deck framing plan.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize that decks live in a tough environment
  2. Learn code-specific loads that apply to a deck
  3. Choose the correct connection for each section of a deck
  4. Understand fastener and connector selection, load capacity and corrosion issues
