Matt Cook, Editor, Domestic Crude Oil, Platts

Matt currently covers the domestic crude oil market for Platts, and also manages Houston-based reporters covering the Midwest, residual fuel oil and swaps markets. He’s been with Platts for seven years, and has extensively covered the US and Canadian crude markets and the US West Coast refined products market. Matt has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
 


Sharmilpal Kaur, Associate Editorial Director, Oil Markets, Platts

Sharmilpal “Sharm” Kaur is the Associate Editorial Director for the Americas crude oil, residual fuel and forward curve markets. She first joined the Platts petrochemicals team in Singapore in January 2006, and moved to the oil team a year later. She has since managed crude oil and all refined product markets across Asia and the Middle East in various roles between 2007 and 2012. She was last senior managing editor for crude oil, light distillates and shipping in Singapore before taking on her current role in Houston in October 2012. Shortly before joining Platts, Sharm worked as an editorial project manager for IBM Business Consulting Services, producing research on business issues in Asia. She has a degree in Political Science and the English language from the National University of Singapore. Prior to that, Sharm won several awards with Singapore's flagship daily, The Straits Times, as a news reporter between 1999 and 2004.
 

Esa Ramasamy, Editorial Director, Oil Markets, Platts

Esa Ramasamy is Platts’ Director of Market Reporting in the Americas.  Based in Houston, Esa Ramasamy has 18 years of editorial experience at Platts and is one of the few reporters who have covered all products (including petrochemicals) derived from a barrel of oil.  Esa has covered petrochemicals in Asia, as well as products in the U.S. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Simon Fraser University.
